Laura Rhodes earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Florida State University in 1983 and her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of West Florida in 1984. She is licensed as a Certified Professional Counselor in the State of Maryland and as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida. She holds a Certificate in Advanced Trauma Treatment, is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (including OCD). She is also certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy and trained in Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy (for couples). Both are specialized treatment techniques for clients suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. 

Ms. Rhodes has spent many years counseling Adolescents and Adults in Individual, Couples and Group Therapy. She works with both men and women. She has extensive training in working with Sexual Assault and Abuse, Physical Abuse, Neglect and Domestic Violence and has experience working with both Victims and Offenders. In addition, she has years of experience working with Veterans, Foster Care issues, Traumatic loss, Grief, Post Traumatic Stress, Adjustment and Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Parent-Child Relationship Issues, Phobias, Social Anxiety, Panic Disorders, Depression, Dissociative Disorders, Anger Management issues, parenting issues, and the use of eating, substance use or self harm as coping mechanisms. In addition she works with clients regarding bullying, and stress due to acculturation or LGBTQ issues. 

Laura believes in working with the client as a partner in treatment often teaching relaxation techniques, awareness of mind/body connection, and utilizing cognitive behavioral counseling, creative guided imagery, communication skills, Socratic reasoning, Exposure and response prevention and or emotional freedom techniques.

Karalyn Mulligan has been a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, LCPC, since 2009, and has served as a counselor, advocate, and program administrator for many years prior. She is also a board approved supervisor for newly licensed therapists. Karalyn sees adolescents and adults for telehealth appointments in Maryland.

Focus areas include Anxiety, Depression, trauma (in childhood and more recent), PTSD, gender and sexuality, relationship issues, and life transitions. Therapy includes an individualized, collaborative approach and may use modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT, mindfulness, client-focused or person-centered, and other strategies to bring insight and empowerment to her clients. Karalyn’s primary goals are to provide meaningful sessions, to offer both empathetic support and assistance in reflecting on one’s thoughts and behaviors in a warm and respectful way, and to assist clients in achieving mental and emotional wellbeing and stability.

Welcome! My name is Therese Moran Conlon, LCPC. I have 20 years of experience helping people to achieve their goals. I graduated in 2004 from Loyola College. I worked for Villa Maria Continuum doing school consultation, home based respite and psychiatric rehabilitation for children and teens. My primary experience is doing individual therapy. My clinical approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. In a nutshell, “Change your thinking, change your life.” I bring a wealth of knowledge, acceptance, compassion and encouragement to my clients. I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, and grief. I also help people with anger management, adjustment disorders, academic under achievement, family issues, supporting individuals and families with chemical addiction issues as well as couples counseling and a myriad of other issues. I currently treat adults 18 years old and over. I am available in person as well as through teletherapy.

Susan Iekel, LCSW-C, LICSW, LCSW is a clinical social worker licensed to practice in MD, DC, and VA. Susan works from a collaborative, strengths-based perspective, and believes a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship is the foundation for a successful treatment outcome. She has a special interest in wellness and the mind-body connection in treating the whole person. Susan has post-graduate training in Jungian-informed psychotherapy, which utilizes creative techniques such as dreamwork and the use of the arts in the therapeutic process. This approach can offer a “deeper-dive” in therapy that Susan believes can promote insight, growth, and a richer life.

Susan earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland in 2002. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance with a Concentration in Dance Movement Therapy from Goucher College. Prior to joining Cedar Ridge Counseling Center, Susan provided therapy and clinical social work services in the non-profit and State sectors in the Baltimore Washington Metro area.

Susan specializes in working with individuals ages 21 and up.
