Cedar Ridge Counseling Provider
Shawn M. Rill, LMSW specializes in working with adults and college students with ADHD (aka executive dysfunction). He also works with adults who experience excessive anxiety and worry, compulsions, addictions and substance use problems, challenges with gambling, and men’s issues.

Shawn works from a behavioral perspective to identify the behaviors and other contributing factors to the problems and undesirable results that someone is getting in their lives. Then, to implement different behaviors and new skills and access resources to foster change. In order to experience different results, we have to change what we have been doing.

Shawn utilizes various therapeutic approaches, such as brief therapies, mindfulness-based interventions, dialectical behavior therapy-based techniques, cognitive behavioral therapies, internal family systems therapy, and hypnosis. He is solution-focused and goal-oriented; he will highlight your strengths and recognize your successes; and he maintains a secular approach.

Shawn is a Maryland licensed social worker (LMSW) with a bachelor’s degree in social work and philosophy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) and a master’s degree in clinical social work with a concentration in behavioral health and employee assistance programs (EAPs) from the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB).
