Mary Paulette Scott, LCSW-C (Polly Scott)
Polly has provided clinical services to adults for over 30 years since graduating from the University of Maryland. During the course of her career she has acquired experience in a broad spectrum of settings including community clinics, in-patient hospitals, emergency rooms, a home health agency, a pastoral counseling agency, nursing homes, but mostly in out-patient mental health services (25 years) which is her avid interest. This broad experience has provided much benefit to her counseling skills.
In addition she has taught psychology at the college level and been involved in elected leadership positions at the state and national levels with the Federation of Societies for Clinical Social Work.
Polly provides counseling for adult individuals, couples, and families utilizing a blend of several techniques including cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and solution focused therapy. Her style is supportive and educational as she helps patients seek to alleviate their distress.
She is particularly adept in working with adjustment to life transitions, mood disorders such as anxiety or depression, stress management, relationship issues (including family, friends, workplace), grief, trauma, cross-cultural situations including interfaith inter-racial, foreign born and/or ethnic minorities, mind/body/spirit imbalance, medical/health conditions, and challenges related to relationships with a loved one suffering from addiction or severe mental illness.
