Emmanuel S. John, MA, MSW, LCSW-C, has been working in the counseling and social work fields in the Baltimore area for more than 25 years.  Emmanuel specializes in Family, Couples and Individual Counseling with a focus on family members of addicted persons.  He specializes in depression and anxiety issues as well as issues around childhood abuse.  He currently owns and operates “Baltimore Assessment and Intervention” and “Real World Counseling” in Towson MD

 

Emmanuel just released his new book titled; “Addiction: “Why They Use, (A Handbook for Anyone Who Loves an Alcoholic or Addict.”  It is now available on line at www.whytheyuse.com  Emmanuel also has a second Master Degree in Instructional Design and Training development & Human Performance Technologies.  He is available for professional seminars on over 72 topics and can design one to meet your specific needs.

 

 

 

Emmanuel has a minor in the Philosophy of Religion and is well practiced at assisting persons seeking personal spiritual connections.  While having worked with both the Devote Christian and Orthodox Jewish Communities here in Baltimore Emmanuel has also worked with many Buddhist, Taoist, New Age/Mystics and Hindu clients.  Emmanuel is an accomplished martial artist in traditional Wushu (Kung Fu) and is an Ashtanga Yoga practitioner. 

 

 

 

Emmanuel has worked in the field of forensic counseling, (clients within the justice system) and in alternative sentencing programs.  He has years of experience helping people navigate the legal system and resolve their legal problems. He has also worked with defense attorneys serving as an expert witness on several high profile cases involving addiction issues here in Maryland.

 

 

 

Additionally Emmanuel works closely with local bands and musician to resolve struggles around interpersonal group conflicts and to aid them in improving their working relationships.  Other groups he has worked with include performing artists, comics, prominent sports figures, actors and other various entertainers.  Many of the above listed clients have struggled with all issues related to working on the road as well as performance and social anxieties of all types.  

 

 

 

Finally one of the groups, which Emmanuel takes great pride in assisting, are soldiers returning from active duty.   Issues related to their return include bonding with newly born children and reengaging with family and significant others as well issues around reentering the civilian work force and PTSD.
